The Feast of Tabernacles

Every year we celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. It is the only one out of seven Jewish feasts that has not found its fulfilment, yet. Therefore it should be still celebrated. The Feast of Tabernacles came in the seventh month. This feast acknowledged God’s bounty in the products of the orchard, the olive grove, and the vineyard. It was the crowning festal gathering of the year. The land had yielded its increase, the harvests had been gathered into the granaries, the fruits, the oil, and the wine had been stored, the first fruits had been reserved, and now the people came with their tributes of thanksgiving to God, who had thus richly blessed them. This feast was to be pre-eminently an occasion of rejoicing. It occurred just after the great Day of Atonement, when the assurance had been given that their iniquity should be remembered no more. During the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) the priest entered the Most Holy place in the temple and he removed any Israel’s sin from there which had been brought there by fasting and repenting people. The Day of Atonement symbolized the Day of Judgement over the dead and the living people. It symbolized weighing people and removing their sinful nature which is kind of erasing their awareness of sin from our minds to prepare people for the time when Jesus will leave the Most Holy place in Heavenly Temple and God’s people will be still here on the Earth living without the Mediator. This time is called Time of Tribulation. There will be no God’s Spirit influencing people’s minds here on the Earth. There will be only as much of God’s Spirit as much God’s people will have It sealed in them! “ Christ in you, the hope of glory” Colossans 1:27 KJV. At that time satan will be reminding God’s people their sins and in this way he will be accusing them of all their sins. The tribulation will be great as God’s people will be unable to recollect these sins as they had been erased from their minds and they will tremble whether they had repented them all. They will worry whether they will be able to stay alive as righteous people in the face of coming back to the Earth Jesus!

At present times we do not celebrate the Day of Atonement once a year as it used to be because since the day when Jesus entered the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Temple in 1844, the Day of Atonement has been lasting ever since! Right now Jesus has been serving His people by judging our lives, weighing us and giving us either a death sentence or purifying us to eternal life. He is judging whether we can be sealed or not…

Having entered the Most Holy Place in the Heavenly Temple Jesus changed the character of His service for people. Practically it means that there is less and less time left till His Second Coming and the time of judgement has started. The books have been opened and the judgement over the righteous dead ones has started. We believe that today Jesus is judging the living righteous people. We are the last generation. We live in the time of the Day of Atonement in the time of judgement.

The Day of Atonement was followed by the Feast of Tabernacles. The Feast of Tabernacles was not only commemorative but typical. It not only pointed back to the wilderness sojourn, but, as the feast of harvest, it celebrated the ingathering of the fruits of the earth, and pointed forward to the great day of final ingathering, when the Lord of the harvest shall send forth His reapers to gather the tares together in bundles for the fire, and to gather the wheat into His garner. At that time the wicked will all be destroyed. They will become “as though they had not been.” Obadiah 16. And every voice in the whole universe will unite in joyful praise to God. Says the revelator, “Every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.” Revelation 5:13.

The people of Israel praised God at the Feast of Tabernacles, as they called to mind His mercy in their deliverance from the bondage of Egypt and His tender care for them during their pilgrim life in the wilderness. They rejoiced also in the consciousness of pardon and acceptance, through the service of the day of atonement, just ended. But when the ransomed of the Lord shall have been safely gathered into the heavenly Canaan, forever delivered from the bondage of the curse, under which “the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now” (Romans 8:22), they will rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Christ’s great work of atonement for men will then have been completed, and their sins will have been forever blotted out.

The Feast of Tabernacles was the feast of joy, commemoration and autumn harvest. The autumn harvest symbolizes the pouring of the Latter Rain. We do believe that during this feast God’s people will be gifted with the Holy Spirit Might during the Latter Rain. All God’s people will be gathered in one Spirit not in geographical sense but in His Spirit – in His Character during the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles.

As the Feast of Weeks found its fulfillment in the event called Pentecost and which was later called the Pouring of the Early Rain, the Feast of Tabernacles is the archetype for the Pouring of the Latter Rain and that event has not been fulfilled, yet. We are still waiting for the Pouring of the Latter Rain and we believe that it will happen during the celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles.

At a given time in history God sent the Early Rain as His special blessing which began the work of Good News. At a given time of the future history God will send the Latter Rain as a blessing which will finish the work of Good News. In this way God will chart the way for coming back Jesus so He could come to gather the ripe fruit to His granaries – namely eternal life in Heavenly peace.
